RGDSN HOT AIR BALLOON
The “Lucky Few” hot air balloon made its debut flight during the 2021 Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta. A passion project of pilot Tony Polito and Albuquerque construction firm Cordova Contracting & Development, LLC, the balloon is dedicated to the Rio Grande Down Syndrome Network.
“The Rio Grande Down Syndrome Network has such a great mission concerning acceptance and inclusion of individuals with Down syndrome and we thought it would be great to help spread that mission and that attitude with a beautiful hot air balloon,” said Shari Cordova, RGDSN Board Member and VP and General Counsel of Cordova Contracting & Development, LLC.
“Having been a commercial hot air balloon pilot for more than 30 years now, I’m so happy to be associated with such a purpose-driven organization as RGDSN. I’m excited to share my passion for the sport with RGDSN and its members and look forward to seeing everyone at this year’s Balloon Fiesta,” said pilot Tony Polito.
The balloon will be showcased at events throughout the year, providing complimentary rides to individuals with disabilities, as well as to advocates and caregivers who exemplify the RGDSN mission.
