Be curious. Discover. Explore: The 2019 Building Science Learning in Early Childhood Summit is a day of playful learning, making connections, and building relationships as we invest in New Mexico’s future! Together we can create and support pathways of rich educational opportunities that support children as they develop science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) competencies and build the skills needed for the workforce of tomorrow-- curiosity, creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking. Surprising to many, the best time in a child’s education to begin gaining these competencies is in their early years. Young children have innate abilities to be creative scientists and engineers. Investing in high quality STEM education in early childhood can significantly impact a child’s interest and motivation to successfully pursue and learn STEM subjects and gain STEM literacy.
The 2019 Building Science Learning in Early ChildhoodSummit, presented by Explora, UNM Family Development Program, the Central New Mexico Community College, the New Mexico Public Broadcasting Station (NM PBS), the UNM Early Childhood Services Center - Toy Lending & Resource Libraries, United Way of Central New Mexico, City of Albuquerque, and a number of early childhood educators and parents of young children, will provide time and space for early childhood educators to connect with each other, build a stronger learning community, and grow their understanding of this essential early STEM learning.
We hope that you will save the following dates and join us as we plant seeds of STEM and have fun discovering, experimenting, and being curious.
